Katie: also, what do they do?
Katie: what are they physically doing?
me: exactly

me: can't you do it tomorrow?
Katie: counting?
Katie: i think they are counting
me: probably
Katie: super rich people don't trust computers to count their money so it all has to be handcounted
me: just like sitting in a room

‘A Wrinkle in Time’ and Its Sci-Fi Heroine →
Bookish girls tend to mark phases of their lives by periods of intense literary character identification. I’m more of a Vicky Austin girl myself, but Meg Murry rules, and yes, why don’t girls read more science fiction?

“This book gives me more information about penguins than I care to have.”
– In 1944 a children’s book club sent a volume about penguins to a 10-year-old girl, enclosing a card seeking her opinion. She wrote, “This book gives me more information about penguins than I care to have.” American diplomat Hugh Gibson called it the finest piece of literary criticism he had ever...

Sometimes I read through me and Katie's old gchats to make myself laugh until I cry. Example:
Katie: CANT TURN THE CAPS OFF
MUSHROOM CAPS
me: tooth caps
baseball caps
baseball caps lock
hahaha
i just made myself laugh
out loud
imagining pushing a button that would suddenly make everyone in the world wear a baseball cap
until you hit it again
and they'd go away
Katie: stop it, disgusting :)
me: claps lock
ALL CLAPPING ALL THE TIME

“I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. ...”
– Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar Is it super cliche to post a quote from the Bell Jar that *speaks to me*? Too bad, I guess. I haven’t read this book since high school but I still think about this image all the time. I just want to eat all the figs!!

On "Pride and Prejudice"
lazybookreviews: [edited but read this part too] Oh, and while rewatching the [Pride & Prejudice] miniseries, as one does, a strange thought occurs to me: when you’re in a period film, and they make up a fake oil painting of you for your stately home, they probably just give it to you when you’re done, right? What else would they do with it? Do you think Colin Firth has an eight-foot-tall...
